This license not only demonstrated our expertise, skills, and ongoing education in our trade, it also helped to protect the customer from unlicensed contractors without proper training, qualifications, and business set up.

As of July 1, 2024, Florida’s licensing requirements for county specific specialty contractor licenses were eliminated. As with any Florida business, we are still required to have an active Sunbiz registration, maintain general liability insurance, and follow local regulations and building codes.

For your reference, here is the official HB735 (2021) and HB1383 (2023) that expired June 30, 2024.

Under Chapter 489.117(4)(a)1. “… A local government may not require a license to obtain a building permit for work such as painting, flooring, cabinetry, interior remodeling (when the scope of the project does not include a task for which a state license is required), driveway or tennis court installation, handyman services, decorative stone, tile, marble, granite or terrazzo installation, plastering, pressure washing, stuccoing, caulking and canvas awning and ornamental iron installation.”
